A gift from the ancestors

My spiritual awakening began in my early 20’s. It’s was during this time I started working with my ancestors. My connection to the dead led me down the path of the wounded healer. If I am to be effective in healing others, I must first heal myself. My journey to heal myself began at Alma de Mujer. I was mentored by the late Marsha Gomez and other indigenous women who passed down their knowledge of medicinal plants and healing remedies. I accepted this gift with the understanding that I must pass on the knowledge to future generations so they have the power to heal themselves from the emotional trauma inherent through colonization.
